For over 25 years, we’ve been helping people in North Carolina improve their properties with new driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, and more. We are known for our efficient installation and have the right skills and equipment to repair your residential pavement.
A Typical Driveway Repair Process
We begin our asphalt driveway repair process by assessing the pavement for cracks and deterioration. To prepare for the project, we clean off dirt, debris, and oils, ensuring repair compounds can adequately adhere. Finally, we apply an oil spot primer to any areas where oil has leaked to prevent penetration and ensure the repairs don’t fail down the line.
Crack sealing is essential to prevent water penetration that can wash away the base, leading to asphalt failure. We ensure that the crack is clean and use specialized equipment to fill the void with a patching compound that can expand and contract with the thermal expansion of the asphalt. We may need to go over large cracks several times to ensure proper sealing.
After repairing the cracks, we seal coat the driveway using a professional-grade asphalt emulsion sealer that protects against salt, UV rays, water penetration, and other contaminants. We apply the sealcoating in lines using specialized brooms and work it back and forth, sweeping it into the pavement pores. The sealer is housed in a tank and pumped out through a hose and wand. It cures from brown to jet black, and we mask off a perfect line to achieve a polished finish.
The driveway can be walked on after three to four hours but should only be driven on for a maximum of 24 to 48 hours. We recommend seal coating every three to four years in the summer months for proper curing. Our process ensures that your asphalt driveway is clean, repaired, and protected from environmental factors for years.
